Wolseley UK Branch Application Form -

Guidance Notes for Completion

Truck

Wolseley UK is one of the country's largest and most successful employers - with over 9,000 staff at more than 1,200 locations. You might know us through our businesses such as the Plumb Center, Build Center and Bathstore.

We work hard to provide ambitious and rewarding careers for employees who are essential to the success of our business. We believe it is our employees' personal performance, team work and positive attitude which help to create top-class customer service that sets us apart from our competitors.

If you believe you possess these skills and attributes we would like to hear from you.

1. Searching for Branch Vacancies

To search for current branch vacancies visit the Wolseley UK careers website at www.wolseleycareers.co.uk and select 'branch roles' from the drop down menu on the home page. You will then be directed to a link to search for branch vacancies - please click on this link and enter your search criteria in the relevant fields.

It is essential that you include a valid UK postcode as part of your search criteria. Ideally this should be the postcode for your home address so that you can see which vacancies are within reasonable travelling distance.

Please note that searching with a postcode for a PO Box address will not work.

2. Before Making your Application

Before completing your application on-line you should consider the following:

  • Do you meet the essential requirements of the role e.g. do you hold the relevant driving licenses required for the role for which you are applying?
  • Are you legally entitled to work in the UK and able to provide documents that confirm this if invited for interview e.g. a British Passport
  • If successful will it take you more than 45 minutes to travel to work? Please think carefully before applying, as many of our branches open from 7.30 a.m.
  • How do your skills and experience match what we are looking for based on the job information provided?
  • You should concentrate your focus on the position you most want to you apply for and complete just one application.
  • Where you have limited work experience think about any voluntary work, projects or activities that you have been involved in which may demonstrate relevant skills and experience relevant to the role
  • It is recommended that you make time to research Wolseley and the types of roles we have available. Further information about working for Wolseley UK can be found on the careers area of our website at www.wolseleycareers.co.uk

3. Completing the On-line Application Form

All applications should be made on-line. To make the application process as easy as possible it is recommended that you have the following information available before starting your application:

  • Details of any previous employment over the past 10 years, including names and addresses of previous employers, your roles and responsibilities plus dates of employment
  • If you hold a driving licence, have this available so that you can refer to the categories of vehicle it applies to
  • Any qualifications or on the job training that you have completed

Hints and Tips:

  • Read the application questions carefully and where we ask for specific information please provide it.
  • When completing information about your driving license you must tick ALL categories of vehicle that apply
  • CVs can be attached for certain roles to provide additional support to your application but should not be used to replace any answers to specific questions contained in the online application
  • Check for spelling mistakes and grammatical errors. Your application is your first introduction to Wolseley and therefore an opportunity to create a good impression.
  • It is really important to complete each section that requires an answer. Leaving a section blank or incomplete could affect the chances of being invited to the interview.
  • If you start an application and are unable to complete it in one session you can save this and reaccess your application at a later date by following the link on the home page of our careers website at www.wolseleycareers.co.uk . It is important that you make a note of your password to be able to do this.

4. Application Outcomes

When you submit your application on-line you will receive an automated message to confirm that your application has been received and you will be contacted by a member of the Wolseley UK Recruitment Team if you are successful in being short-listed for interview.

If you are not contacted within 28 days of submitting your application, please assume that your application has not been successful. Unfortunately due to the volume of applications we receive we are unable to provide feedback to external candidates at application stage.

Applicants can also obtain an update on their application status by accessing the link on the homepage of the careers website at www.wolseleycareers.co.uk or by calling the Candidate Helpline on 0871 2263764.

5. Additional Support for Candidates

Should you experience any technical difficulties when making your application, or require special adjustments to be made to the application process, you should contact the Wolseley UK Recruitment Team on 0871 226 3772 who will be able to assist you.
