Leamington-based Wolseley UK has funded a jam-packed activity day for local school children following their SATS exams.

The nationwide distributer of construction, heating and plumbing products wanted to do something special for the year six youngsters at Whitnash Primary School, after a busy year preparing for the tests.

Sarahjayne Brazier, a Wolseley UK employee whose child attends the school, helped to organise the event. After hearing that some of the children were unable to attend an activity holiday earlier in the year, Wolseley UK decided to make a contribution of £250 towards an end-of-year treat.

Whitnash School’s pupils were treated to an outdoor multi-activity day at Blackwell Adventure, where they had a chance to experience a tree trek, archery, crate stacking and a zip wire. Wolseley UK’s donation was all the more appreciated as it allowed all of the children at Whitnash Primary School to take part in the fun.

Sarahjayne Brazier commented:  “Exams are always tough, irrespective of how old you are, and such pressure placed additional strain on staff and students. The school even had to cut back on swimming and PE lessons to allow time for extra classes so that the children were thoroughly prepared for their exams. I experienced this first hand with my son Alfie, so was thrilled when Wolseley UK decided to reward them for their hard work.”

Teacher Jen Ballantine, also known as Mrs.B to the pupils, commented: “I was absolutely taken aback by the generosity of Wolseley UK.  It has made a huge difference to the children by allowing us to make the trip free of charge for them. Thank you so much!”
