Wolseley UK celebrates a decade at Leamington head office
07 September 2015
Wolseley UK is celebrating 10 years of being on its head office site in Royal Leamington Spa (RLS).
To mark the milestone and celebrate what it has achieved in that time, employees enjoyed a party-themed BBQ and dress down day, with games and prizes.
Home to the Wolseley Center, its head office building, the site features 3,000 sq. metres of outdoor space and also houses the company’s National Distribution Centre (NDC), Sustainable Building Center (SBC) and a European Data Centre used by a number of other Wolseley companies.
In the 10 years since it has owned the Leamington Spa site, Wolseley UK has implemented numerous green initiatives which have reduced annual running costs at the site by a momentous £400,000.
Initiatives have included the installation of photovoltaic (PV) panels, as well as replacing conventional lighting with LED, achieving zero waste to landfill and Carbon Trust and BREEAM recognition. A worm farm was also created to process vegetarian food waste, with the resulting compost used on plants at the site along with a wild meadow was cultivated to encourage ground-nesting birds, voles and indigenous flowers.
John Page, Site Facilities Manager at Wolseley UK, said: “We have had 10 fantastic years in Leamington Spa and in that time we’ve seen real success with creating a green
site. From installing renewable products and implementing clever building management practises, we are committed to protecting and enhancing the built and natural environment and we are happy to share our expertise with anyone looking to do the same.”
Wolseley UK employs 700 members of staff at its RLS site – 550 in the Wolseley Center and 150 at its NDC.
