Working in supply chain
We have a national distribution centre at Royal Leamington Spa in Warwickshire, along with four regional centres at Worcester in Worcestershire, Melmerby in West Yorkshire, Marston Gate in Bedfordshire and Measham in Derbyshire. With 1.5m square feet of warehouse space, they dispatch more than £1.6bn of stock each year. That’s the equivalent of around 7,000 orders every day to over 6,000 UK locations.
To achieve this takes a fleet of more than 800 vehicles that clocked up a combined total of 27 million miles in 2017. That’s 1,100 times round the world, or 55 return trips to the moon. Around 850 people work across this network, from drivers and warehouse operatives to helpdesk team leaders and operations managers. So there are plenty of opportunities for you to play a big role in our continuing success.

Originally, when I joined Wolseley, it was just a stop-gap. Within an hour of my interview, I was offered the job, so I thought I’d give it a go. What a great decision. It’s all about the people here – we have a great team. Every day brings fresh challenges because we’re always busy, so there’s also a big focus on safety. Wolseley offer a range of fantastic benefits, too. I was given some great advice by a colleague when I first joined – “join the pension and buy shares through SAYE.” I’d definitely recommend that to anyone joining.
