What attracted me to Wolseley was the chance to take my current role – it was a terrific opportunity as the next step in my career. One of the key things that I enjoy about working here are the people I work with. We have a talented team, with really committed people who want to make a difference. I’ve also had several fantastic opportunities to develop myself since I joined Wolseley, which have enabled me to progress my career.

I joined Wolseley as a Business Analyst because it was a large FTSE 100 business with an excellent reputation and I thought it offered potential development opportunities.

This proved to be the case – you get the opportunity to work and interact with so many diverse teams that no single day is the same. Now, in my role as Finance Manager I work with some great people and there’s still scope for progression in the business.

My career story

Melanie Kelly, Part-Time Finance Business Support Clerk. Ripon

I started in the Finance department on a Trainee programme, which gave me the chance to decide on my career path. It also opened up opportunities to apply for different Finance roles.

There’s a good team atmosphere in the Ripon office and working with different colleagues and suppliers gives me the chance to learn something new every day. As a mum, I really appreciate the flexibility Wolseley have given me, so I can organise my work around my family’s needs.

Michelle Robinson, Finance Business Support – Exceptions Handling Controller. Ripon

When I was at school, I contacted Wolseley about work experience and spent two weeks working here. I was made to feel welcome and valued, so I applied to join as a Trainee when I left school.

I enjoy the variety of my current role and the interaction with the business, as well as working with my team. Most of all, I enjoy the fact that my manager will listen to my ideas and give me the chance to implement them with my team.
