Patrick Healy celebrates 25 years with Wolseley!
Patrick Healy’s Wolseley journey began back in February 1996, when the then 25-year-old started out as a sales assistant in Tottenham, just as Danny Boyle’s cult classic film ‘Trainspotting’ hit the big screen and Take That announced that they were disbanding.
Fast forward 25 years, and Patrick, having turned 50 earlier this month, is enjoying his work just as much as he was back in those heady days of the mid-90s. That said, things have moved on a little – not just in terms of his role, but also the workplace culture.
“After starting off as a sales assistant, I was soon promoted to a trade counter supervisor role. Then I moved to become manager at our Camden Town branch before moving to Ware where I am also the branch manager,” he said.
“The greater emphasis on health and safety in more recent years is perhaps the most significant change I’ve seen, while the digitalisation of most things has also made product ordering a lot more straightforward than it was when I first started,” he added.
And when asked what’s kept him here all these years, his response was all about pride, job satisfaction, and camaraderie. “When customers appreciate what you do for them, that’s a great feeling,” he explained. “My job role and what’s expected of me is really clear, and I’ve worked alongside and under some great people who’ve been positive influences.”
"My job role and what’s expected of me is really clear, and I’ve worked alongside and under some great people who’ve been positive influences."
And despite entering a new age bracket, Patrick’s commitment to Wolseley remains as strong as ever – even if his life takes a drastic and unexpected turn in the future. As far as future plans go, he’s thinking big! He joked: “My plan for the future is to win the lottery. If my numbers come up, I’ll go part time!”
Thankfully, Patrick isn’t going anywhere just yet (and apparently not even if he wins the lottery – that’s commitment!).
