Our Infrastructure business is delighted to welcome three new apprentices to our team in Chesterfield. Nico, Lewis and Kyle are the first of what the business hopes will be many new faces joining us to develop their careers through one of our many exiting apprenticeship programmes.

All three colleagues began their roles earlier this month following a successful induction into the business, and they will each complete various on and off-the-job learning alongside their respective daily roles as part of their chosen apprenticeship pathway.

One of those new recruits, Nico Santoro, who joins us as a sales apprentice, was full of optimism and couldn’t wait to get started. He told us: “I chose to do this apprenticeship as I knew what a great opportunity it would be. I hope that I become a great salesman and get loads of different training to make me better at my job.

“The opportunities are what excites me the most as after my induction week so far everyone who I have spoken to has told me how well the company is growing, meaning more opportunities could come along in future."

Lewis Widdeson, who has taken on an apprenticeship in warehousing, said: “I chose this apprenticeship because of the opportunities that are on offer and for further learning and skills. I'm hoping to get stable, full time employment with the opportunity to move up and progress in the business.

“I joined Wolseley through an agency a few months ago and I have already created a good working relationship and friendships with my colleagues, which I want to continue.”

And finally, Kyle Robinson, whose apprenticeship is in business admin, told us: “After leaving my previous job I've been looking for something that can offer a good challenge and an apprenticeship is the perfect opportunity to gain valuable experience on the job whilst working towards a qualification.

“Ideally at the end of it I hope there will be a full career at a growing company with plenty of opportunities to come. From the people I have met so far there seems to be a clear goal, and everyone seems really on board with that. The main thing that excites me about that is the growth and the future prospects that come with that.”

Infrastructure Managing Director John Hancock also spoke of his excitement that the business is now in a position to offer apprenticeships to young, aspirational colleagues and believes that this will bring great reward further down the line.

He said: “Having specialist colleagues is a key differentiator in our markets; our customers rely on dealing with knowledgeable staff. It is fantastic that we are developing our experts of tomorrow, utilising the knowledge of our existing colleagues along with a structured training programme from our Learning & Development team to equip them with all the skills to build a career within Wolseley.”

Infrastructure Technical Director, Neal Lambert, who will be guiding all three new recruits through their apprenticeship journey, added: “Firstly what a great start to an apprenticeship programme in Wolseley! Welcome to Lewis, Kyle and Nico and a really big thank you to everyone who has supported this programme and to everyone who contributed to a successful introduction and the first week.

"The journey now really starts for these three young, enthusiastic and ambitious young men. The timing could not be better. Our business, Wolseley Infrastructure, is really flying and the clear message from everyone they met last week was that our people are the most important aspect of our business and the vast opportunities that a career in Wolseley could bring. Good luck to all three!"

Welcome aboard, Nico, Lewis and Kyle – onwards and upwards!
