Being green used to be seen as a ‘nice to have’, but with increased awareness and understanding of the impact both individuals and companies have on our world, it’s now firmly on everyone’s agenda.

And that’s why a group of committed individuals from across our business have come together to focus on how we can make Wolseley ‘the green merchant of choice’.

  • Hundreds of old uniforms were collected, sorted and recycled into new clothing by our workwear provider Dimensions. Material that couldn’t be reused for fibres or clothing was used for filling and insulation, such as mattresses or car door padding.

  • We’ve partnered with Grundfos to provide customers with an easy way of recycling domestic heating pumps.

  • We’ve launched our very own Biffa Waste and Recycling guide. This includes everything from our objectives, legal obligations, back hauling through XPO, specialist waste requirements and what can be put into each bin.

  • Unrecycled plastics can take hundreds of years to break down, so to reduce the number of unrecyclable coffee cups on site we introduced a reusable coffee cup at our Warwick Support Centre to reduce plastic waste. For those who do not have one of these cups, a fully recyclable cup has also now been introduced which can be disposed of in the dry recycling (DMR) bins.
