Our West Region Private & Domestic Sales Team welcomes two new colleagues following the recruitment of a new face from a competitor and internal promotion. We welcome Chris Doggett to the business and congratulate Brett Lear on his recent career progress.

When it comes to attracting and maintaining the very best candidates here at Wolseley, we know that championing successes, rewarding talent and hard work, and providing opportunities for career growth are key.

Chris Doggett crop.jpgOur West Region Private & Domestic Sales Team has embraced this on both fronts – firstly through the appointment of Chris Doggett (pictured right), who joined us last month from City Plumbing. Chris has over 11 years’ experience working in domestic plumbing and heating, and brings with him outstanding product knowledge and an interest in branch operations.

Having previously been a Branch Manager, our Bournemouth-based colleague is now covering the South West and parts of the South in his new Regional Account Manager role, and so we were keen to discover how he’s been settling in and adapting to the change.

He told us: “The new role has been exciting from the get-go. Inductions and introductions have been pre-arranged to ensure a support network is established quickly. Everybody has been friendly and helpful, which has enabled me to hit the ground running and feel comfortable in doing so. I have focused my career on sales management, and I enjoy everyday challenges, and I feel this role really suits me, as I see building lasting relationships with existing and prospective customers as one of my biggest strengths.”

Meanwhile, long-server Brett Lear, who joined us back in 2005, has been promoted from his previous role as Branch Manager at our Mansfield branch and joins Chris in becoming a Regional Account Manager across the West region.

Brett Lear crop.pngBrett (pictured left) knows the business inside out, having previously held roles in Hucknall, Arnold and Nottingham, in roles ranging from Sales Advisor, to Team Supervisor, to Network Stock Controller, before embarking on the next chapter of his career just last week. He will cover what is known as the West region, but he will have accounts to manage from Nottingham all the way down to Reading.

He told us: “I have always enjoyed the sales aspect of the job more than any and being part of customer focused teams that build strong relationships and add value to their business - so the next logical step in my career path was to work with the sales team.

“Having worked for Wolseley for many years in lots of branches I have built up a really solid reputation in the business for offering fantastic customer service wherever I have been based. This has stemmed from lots of hard work and late nights in branch to offer best in class service, learning from my mistakes (there have been plenty!), a willingness to learn and listen to my customers Through that, I have developed a sound product knowledge and fantastic rapport with suppliers and their representatives.”

Both Chris and Brett will report into Regional Sales Manager, Dean Jones, who spoke of his delight at being able to welcome two new colleagues to his team. He added: “The recent appointments of Brett and Chris to the West Private & Domestic Sales team really signals the changes within the Wolseley organisation. We are actively developing our people from within, from branch to region and providing great opportunities for talented, passionate people to progress and flourish within this business.

“What’s more, our broader change of direction has also got candidates currently employed by our competitors looking at their own career opportunities and realising that Wolseley has the best toolbox in the industry. We are definitely shaking and moving in the marketplace and we believe we now represent the best place for good candidates to develop their careers long term.”
